The Ashtabula Harbor's lighthouse was established in 1836, and rebuilt again in 1905 and 1916. The light has been automated since 1973 and is still active. Ashtabula County MetroParks - Harpersfield Covered Bridge
The longest covered bridge in Ohio at 228 feet is the focal point of this park. A Howe Truss Bridge, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Several canoe liveries provide portage from this area, fishing for bass, steelhead and other species from the dam and surrounding area is a favorite past time for locals. Walking trails along the State Designated Scenic Grand River provide hours of wildlife watching - Great Blue and Green Heron, species of ducks and other birds have been seen.
